History

Centro de Química Estrutural (CQE) has a rich history dating back to its founding as Centro de Estudos de Química (CEQ) in 1966. Under the leadership of Professor João J. R. Fraústo da Silva, it became CQE in 1975. Despite limited resources, CQE maintained a vibrant scientific environment, producing numerous articles in international journals and garnering recognition for its success. By 1990, become one of Portugal’s largest research centers in chemistry. Today, with nearly five decades of accumulated expertise, CQE remains committed to advancing research in chemistry and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.
