Abstract A set of new N-substituted chlorindylimides and a chlorendic acid sodium-coordination polymer were synthesized. The synthetic chemical advantages of hexachlorobornenyl moiety and the presence of diverse substituents on the imide scaffold encouraged the exploration of the supramolecular crystal networks of all compounds based on Hirshfeld surface analysis which verified the participation of chlorine atoms in at least 70\% of the total intermolecular interactions. The predominance of Cl center dot center dot center dot Cl vs C-H center dot center dot center dot Cl interactions is based on the structural features of the incorporated imide. Unprecedentedly, the sodium 1D-polymer is composed by dimer unites of two partially deprotonated chlorendic acids with two Na(I) nodes. (C) 2020 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
